Every Scientology Church and mission has a Scientology Volunteer Ministers program. Volunteers help in their communities, at big yellow tents set up in neighborhoods around the church where they help one-on-one, usually on the weekends.

They are also on call for disasters in the area, and for major disasters, Scientology VMs are mobilized all over the world to go help. Examples are the hurricanes last year on the Gulf Coast and the tsunamis in 2004.
